Antica Masseria Caroli is a family farm located in Martina Franca, a small town at the center of the Val d’Itria valley in Puglia. The valley is famous for its three-foot-tall white limestone walls and its characteristic Trulli, small white agricultural buildings with gray conically shaped roofs. Both the walls and the Trulli are built completely without cement and are held together purely by the design of the construction.

From Salumi to Olive oil
We ran into Stefano Caroli while we were looking for a salumificio (charcuterie producer) in Martina Franca. Soon enough, we found out that Stefano was a jack-of-all-trades, apart from salumi (charcuterie) his family was producing artisanal pastas and extra virgin olive oils. And who are we not to try what is offered to us? A few miles away from Martina Franca, Stefano first showed us his personal pride, the family’s oil mill.
Four generations Caroli
For four generations, the Caroli family has been producing olive oil. Stefano grew up in his grandfather's olive mill. At that time, oil was produced there from third-party olives and the oil was sold in bulk to major oil brands in Northern Italy. When Stefano took over from his grandfather, he decided to follow his own path and started selling olive oil produced from his own olive groves, in pursue of a higher quality standard.
Olive oil since 1984
Since 1984, Stefano has been producing high-quality olive oil. He uses different olive varieties to produce various blends (multiple olive varieties), as well as monocultivar (single olive variety) olive oil. Mezzogiorno offers you one blend and three different types of monocultivar organic extra virgin olive oils.
Artisanal Pasta
Apart from olive oil, Stefano also has a small artisanal pasta production facility. Here, he produces traditional Pugliese pasta varieties. This pasta is produced by Stefano’s brother near Monopoli, a village at the Adriatic coast. Mezzogiorno offers you a variety of artisanal dried pastas, which you can combine into a package of eight packs.
