The base for Roman wines
Falanghina is probably the most famous grape variety in Campania. Already during Roman times, this grape was used in the production of Falernian wines, the most famous white wine in the Roman era.
So much more than a table wine
In the 20th century, Falanghina lost its good name, since it was mostly used to produce cheap white table wine. However, during the last decade, Falanghina was recognized again for its potential. Giuseppe Caggiano has created a wine that combines the distinctive taste of the Falanghina with his high quality standards.
High on the Taburno Composauro massif
Giuseppe grows his Falanghina on 600 meters of altitude at the foot of the gorgeous Taburno Compasauro massif, just north of Taurasi. The grapes are grown on a terroir of limestone and clay. After harvesting in middle of October, the Falanghina ferments in stainless steel, temperature-controlled tanks. Subsequently the wine is bottled and ripens in the bottle for at least three months before it is sold.
Enjoy like the Romans
This wine lets you enjoy a nose of tropical fruits. This Falanghina has the typical taste characteristics of banana, great acidity, and a persistent finish. This fruity and fresh white wine is great in combination with fish and shellfish, but it does also great as a summer aperitif.
