Centuries old tradition
In 1972, Salvatore Zumbo started an innovative viticulture project in Rovittello, a small village on the north side of Mount Etna. Here, he planted one of the first specialized vineyards on Etna, on the Santo Spirito plot, located about 750 m above sea level. Salvatore decided to plant grapes that had grown in these areas for centuries but were not used to their full potential.

Flowers, flowers
CiùriCiùri Etna DOC (Flowers Flowers in the Sicilian dialect) is named after one of the most famous Sicilian folk songs of all time. With this wine, the current generation of Zumbos honors the past and tradition. CiùriCiùri is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese. This grape has similarities with the grapes used in Burgundy and is somewhat reminiscent of Pinot Noir. Wines from this grape are often spicy with notes of raspberry and red fruit. The rare and native Nerello Mascalese is exclusively cultivated on Sicily on Mount Etna.
Everything by hand
The Zumbo sisters cultivate this grape to produce, among other wines, this rosé. The grapes are picked by hand in the first half of October. Once they have arrived in the wine cellar, the bunches are selected by hand and lightly pressed. The grape must is fermented at a controlled temperature of 15 degrees. The wine then matures for at least a month in steel tanks before being bottled.

Ideal with fish or aperitif
The result is a beautiful rosé with fruity aromas in which cherry and red berries are recognizable. On the palate, this rosé brings more red fruit such as strawberry and raspberry with light notes of licorice and spices. This wine is ideal to combine with fish dishes or white meat but is also very suitable as an aperitif on a warm night in spring.
