Le Opere e i Giorni
The Pata family has been making high quality olive oil since 1910. The fourth generation of Patas started a few years ago with the development of the "Le Opere e i Giorni" line, a line with special flavored organic extra virgin olive oils. This line was inspired by an old family recipe from 1934 in which olives were pressed with bergamot (a local citrus fruit).
Pressed together
The oil is not mixed with an aromatic additive afterwards (as is generally done with aromatic oils), but the products (e.g. basil, garlic, bergamot) are pressed together with the olives. A laborious process, in which the entire press must be cleaned after each flavor.
A generation of research
It has taken a generation to find the right proportions between the added products and the oil, but the result is there! These aromatized oils have much purer flavors than “conventionally” flavored oils.
Peperoncino
This peperoncino olive oil is spicy, but still has the characteristic taste of the Ottobratica olive oil. Here you can really see the difference between pressing together or adding aromatic oil to pressed olive oil. This oil is delicious with fish dishes and spaghetti aglio e olio.
A flavor for every purpose
Choose a combination of six oils to be able to vary optimally during cooking. For example, use the bergamot oil with fish or a salad, the lemon oil with white meat, the peperoncino oil in your spaghetti aglio olio or the basil oil with a piece of fresh bread. The choice is yours!
